Aquatic Dress Up – An Interactive Game!

Combining both our interests in fashion and beauty, we aimed to create an interactive experience via a dress-up game. The game’s setting starts with a 2D character preparing for an upcoming beach trip, and users must help coordinate an outfit. Users are given a wide closet selection to personalize their character. There are four main categories: 1) Swimwear sets (i.e. Pink or Blue fits), 2) Eye Colors (i.e. Brown or Blue), 3) Accessories (i.e. Flowers, sunglasses, handbags or jewelry), and 4) Backgrounds (i.e. Default, beach or pool.) Each category provides different options for users to choose from, whether it's picking one color over another or which accessories to include. Overall, this all ends with the character wearing the final outfit customized by the user. Unlike other game genres, there is no winning or losing. The emphasis is on the game experience and the end goal. Our target audience is primarily young adult women and young girls, though it is not limited to these groups. Dress-up games have traditionally attracted a strong female demographic, so we aimed to appeal to this core audience. While the game is accessible and intuitive enough for children to enjoy, we also included young adult women, as many of them grew up engaging with similar types of media. By combining simplicity with familiar elements, the game is designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia while remaining easy for new, younger players to understand and enjoy.
