Deep in the Sea
A simple interactive experience that lets people see how the underwater world slowly loses color as a diver goes deeper.

My Final Project is an underwater color changing simulation using p5.js. While many people have gone scuba diving, few have made it 40 meters(130ft) underwater or more. I would like to allow users to see for themselves how colors change the deeper you go underwater. The user will have a few options to choose what image they would like to work with. They can upload their own photo, select an image of one of several fish found while diving in New England, or use their computers camera to take a selfie. Once an image has been selected, they press start and watch as the photo descends from sea level to 40 meters(130fts) underwater. As it goes, colors will shift to simulate how light behaves underwater. Red tones will disappear first, and as you go deeper, the entire image will grow dimmer, bluer, and less saturated. I really enjoy this idea because it meshes two of my interests: diving and interaction design with images. My goal isn't just to make something visually appealing, but to have users imagine and experience something they may not have gotten to experience yet. I hope to have the final product feel playful, slightly informative, and visually interesting.
